This piece was just named Best In Show at the 2021 Kerrville Art Club Annual Member Show.

Marla Coffee-Key, Slate Gray Gallery Manager in Kerrville, was the Juror.  It shows two Endangered Whooping Cranes flying home to roost at the Aransas Wildlife Refuge in the waning light of dusk.

The subject matter remains a favorite for me, as these magnificent birds winter very close to my home town.

This is a painting about the fragility of a Nature, and the impact of our human activities on our planet, and the creatures sharing our home.

This is a painting reminding us of the rebound of this species from the brink of extinction.

It is a also story of hope, as the end of the beautiful day’s sunset reminds us of the promise of a better tomorrow...

It is also a reminder of the vigilance required to prevent those entities who would destroy the environment for profit, from eroding the protections put into place, to ensure the ongoing success of their survival.
